About MRSWA

Jurisdiction, Service Area

MRSWA handles integrated solid waste management for the New River Valley Region. We serve Montgomery County and the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg and Virginia Tech. We work closely with New River Resource Authority (NRRA).

We are an autonomous authority, as opposed to a government agency; we work closely with local governments to meet their waste disposal needs.

Our mission is to progressively manage solid waste and recyclable materials in an environmentally safe, reliable and efficient manner.

Transfer Station

• 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday

• 8:00 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday

Buyback

• 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday

• 8:00 am to noon on Saturday (recycling may be dropped off during these hours)

Recycling Processing Facility and Administrative Offices

• 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
