About MRSWA

Jurisdiction, Service Area

MRSWA handles integrated solid waste management for the New River Valley Region. We serve Montgomery County and the Towns of Blacksburg and Christiansburg and Virginia Tech. We work closely with New River Resource Authority (NRRA).

We are an autonomous authority, as opposed to a government agency; we work closely with local governments to meet their waste disposal needs.

Hours of Operation

Transfer Station

8:00 am to 4:00 pm Monday through Friday
8:00 am to 12:30 pm on Saturday

Buyback

8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday through Friday
8:00 am to noon on Saturday - THROUGH January, 2009 - (recycling may be dropped off during these hours). Beginning February 1, 2009, the buyback area will not be open on Saturdays.
