What is "buyback"?
Buyback is the part of our operation where people bring items that require a fee for disposal, like computers, appliances and batteries. Also, MRSWA will buy aluminium, brass and copper from the public through our buyback area.
Can I recycle any plastic things I have?
We accept plastic containers with #1 - #7 stamped no the bottom. That's all the things you are used to recycling here, plus food tubs, lids, plastic jars - even kitty litter buckets! Download additional information about #3-#7 plastics.
Do I have to bundle items I bring to recycle?
No.
Why don't we separate metal, plastic and glass?
Our system separates those items once they've been brought in.
Is MRSWA a Montgomery County agency?
No, we are an authority - a separate entity working with our member jurisdictions, Blacksburg, Christiansburg, Montgomery County and Virginia Tech. We also work closely with the New River Resource Authority in Dublin, Virginia.
